Who we are

Who we are

We are a group of people of varying ages and backgrounds who know and love Jesus and who come together to worship, share fellowship and have fun.

We are a relaxed and welcoming congregation with various activities throughout the week, including Sunday services, Minnows toddler group and Thursday lunches.

Minister - Rev Dr Kofi Tekyi-Ansah

Dear Friends,

Warmest greetings. I am pleased to welcome you to the Staines Methodist Church website. Our aim is to know Jesus and make him known. Our earnest desire is to experience revival in all areas of our personal and cooperative lives and to be a great influence of good in our community.

We trust that you will grant us the opportunity to get to know you and share our lives with you, as we seek to spread the fragrance of God's love to all.

God bless you

Stewards

Welcome from the Staines Methodist Church stewards. As stewards we are responsible for managing many of the practical aspects of the Church. This includes ensuring that visitors and local preachers receive a warm welcome, assisting with service coordination and helping to oversee the day to day running of Church activities.

Methodist Church in the UK

In England the Methodist Church is governed by the Annual Conference. Each year a President and Vice President are elected who speak on behalf of the Methodist Church. All Churches are linked by what is known as the "Connexion" which covers the whole of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Connexion is divided into Districts and each District is then broken down into Circuits. Each Circuit has one or more Churches. Staines Methodist Church is one of the eight Churches forming the Staines and Feltham Circuit which is part of the South East District.

A Worldwide Church

The Staines church is linked with over 4,000 other Methodist churches throughout Britain, and with some 80 million Methodists in 138 other countries, a worldwide community of Christian people.

History

We can trace our origins to John Wesley’s visits to the town from 1771 onwards. The first chapel was erected in 1854 and we moved to our present attractive building in Thames Street in 1987.
